SINGLETON VISITOR INFORMATION AND ENTERPRISE CENTRE RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION

17 April 2013

Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, today congratulated Singleton Shire Council for their win in this years National Awards for Local Government.

The Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre was the winner of the Excellence in Tourism category.

During 2010 the Federal Government provided $147,000 to Singleton Shire Council under round two of the Regional and Local Infrastructure Program (RLCIP). The RLCIP was about both cushioning the regions from the worst impacts of the global recession and bringing forward the construction of much needed local facilities. The Council used $51,000 of that funding for a new fit out to the Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre.

Im very pleased that the Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre have been nationally recognised. These prestigious awards recognise the great work that our local governments do in supporting their communities through creative and innovative programs.

As the tier of government closest to the people, local governments deliver important services and infrastructure for their communities.
