The Federal Government provided $120,000 and Cessnock City Council contributed $100,000 to upgrade facilities as part of our investment to support jobs in the local economy, and deliver long-lasting benefits to the local community, Mr Fitzgibbon said.

This funding was delivered to Cessnock City Council from round 3 of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program a key part of our Economic Stimulus Plan and the largest one-off investment in local infrastructure in Australias history.

During construction, approximately 15 jobs were created during construction.

This project has provided the opportunity to upgrade the Margaret John Skatepark to better meet the needs of the young people in the area, both in terms of design features and overall capacity.
