The Australian Museum of Clothing and Textiles will receive support from the Australian Government under the Your Community Heritage program.
Joel Fitzgibbon, Member for Hunter, said that the Australian Museum of Clothing and Textiles would receive $4,533 under the program.
The organisation does great work in our community, Mr Fitzgibbon said.
The Australian Government will be providing funding to allow them to document and publish the history of the textile industry of the Hunter Valley including the stories of former workers and managers.
This is a great result for our community.
Federal heritage minister Tony Burke said the projects funded by the governments Your Community Heritage program will help communities to record, protect, share and celebrate their heritage.
Community heritage is about making sure we preserve the stories of our community which attach to particular places, Mr Burke said.
This grant helps preserve and tell the story of the history of the textile industry in the Hunter Valley.
To really appreciate the story of our country its not just the milestones that are in textbooks, its the stories that live and breathe in every community.
The Australian Government is supporting 228 heritage projects around Australia.
