I trust readers managed to have a good Easter despite the challenges we face. The growth in COVID-19 cases continues to slow and hopefully they will begin to fall sometime soon. If and when they do, the scientific experts may consider recommending a relaxation of the restrictions which have been imposed on our movements, socialising and business activity. Let’s hope.

A primary task for me and my team over the past month has been to help people navigate the avalanche of confusing Coronavirus distancing rules and financial assistance measures. One of the few upsides of the crisis has been the additional opportunities it has given me to speak with local residents including business operators; conversations which have often extended beyond immediate challenges. Thank you for the interaction – it helps me when arguing the case for the needs of our electorate in Canberra.

Hopefully the following links will provide additional guidance.

  1. Department of Health information
  2. ATO information for employers
  3. ATO information for businesses; and
  4. Updated NSW COVID-19 restrictions on gathering and movement.

If you'd like more information on the situation for employees and workers, the Fair Work Ombudsman has information here.

The links won’t answer all of your questions, it couldn’t possibly. So if you have an unanswered question, please email me at [email protected] and I’ll give you call, or send additional information.

Please share this information to those you believe may benefit from it, and invite them to contact my office if they need any further assistance.

Finally, it’s important to look after your mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond Blue has created some tips and advice which can be found here, or feel free to contact my office on 49 911 022.
